The Cross Street Hole (#CSH) was a Twitter happening that just took on a life of its own a few weeks back. It took place on the Isle Of Wight - a tiny island off of England’s south coast - where BIG things happen. There’s a yacht race, a real castle, a high-security prison, many concert events (Jimi Hendrix even played there, way back when…)
And, it’s also the kind of place where if the event isn’t big enough to cause a stir by itself, well, that’s where the Twitter crowd comes into play!
There are a LOT of active Twitter users on the Isle of Wight. Perhaps, due to its relative isolation from mainland England, the Internet is how they communicate with their landlocked brethren? Regardless, they pounced on the story and broadcast it to the world.
Through sheer lucky timing (I was bored & turned on my computer) I was lucky enough to become the sole unofficial American Tweeter-spondent. I felt I had to make sure that America knew that something serious was happening to our English friends. My job was to heighten awareness of the scope of the potential tragedy that unfolded Live over the course of an otherwise fairly un-newsworthy Friday.
Of course, everyone in the US probably just carried on watching the various iterations of The Kardashians, or ‘You My Baby Daddy’ on Maury Povich’s daytime show, and thus remained completely and blissfully oblivious.
Perhaps, a good thing…but…for those who are curious…for those who care…click the GREEN LINK ABOVE to read what transpired on that fateful Friday…
They are filming the movie "Disconnect" in Yonkers, with Paula Patton, Jason Bateman and Alexander Skarsgard
Yeah! My kids got Skarsgard’s autograph on the True Blood Season 1 DVD, plus a couple of pictures of him yesterday evening. They were literally right around the corner from me. I believe they will be back on Friday.
